In October 2010 we had the pleasure (with the help of Contaminate NYC) of presenting 'Little Shiny Things' featuring paintings by local artist L.J. Lindhurst. You might remember the realistic paintings of doll faces and toys hanging on the walls. L.J. Lindhurst has recently finished a new series of paintings called "Industrials", which she has posted on her site. Like the the images presented at Root Hill, these new works have a realistic feel to them and at first glance seem like photographs. But these pieces are so much more. With paint L.J. Lindhurst has captured some emotion that is lacking in most photography. Her work this time focuses on man-made elements associated with 'industry'. Although these elements seem cold in reality, they express something more in her paintings. If you have a moment swing over to her site and check out her ongoing work.
